Your halaqa on Hudhudo — free for volunteer teachers

By the Hudhudo team · Updated on October 18, 2026

Do you teach children the Quran as a volunteer? Open your halaqa on Hudhudo for free: one halaqa with up to 15 children, with every homework and grading feature.

You set memorisation homework. The child listens and reviews at home, then records the recitation and sends it to you. You listen to the recording and grade it whenever suits you. The halaqa homework is free for the child too, with no family subscription.

Who is the halaqa for?

For the volunteer teacher who helps children memorise the Quran and wants to follow their progress between sessions:

  • a teacher of a Quran circle in a mosque;
  • a weekend-school teacher following their class's memorisation;
  • a teacher with a small group of children from the family or the neighbourhood.

Hudhudo does not replace your lesson; it helps with the homework at home between your sessions.

What is free?

  • Halaqa: One halaqa with up to 15 children, free for the volunteer teacher.
  • Homework: You choose a surah and verses as memorisation homework, for the whole halaqa or for one child.
  • Recordings: The child records the recitation and sends it to you; you listen on your halaqa page.
  • Grading: Five levels, a score out of 10 if you like, and a word of encouragement the child sees.
  • Attendance: Present, late or absent per session; the parent sees it too.
  • For the child: The halaqa homework is free, with no family subscription.

How does it work?

  1. You send the join request on this page.
  2. We review your request and email you.
  3. You create your teacher account with the same email address and name your halaqa.
  4. Before activation: a short video call to verify your identity (unless we already know you personally), a Dutch VOG or a certificate of good conduct from your country issued within the last 3 years, paid for by you or your mosque, and acceptance of the code of conduct.
  5. You invite each child's parent with their email address and the child's first name.
  6. The parent accepts the invitation from their free Hudhudo account and consents to the voice recordings.
  7. You set homework; the child listens and reviews at home, then records the recitation and sends it.
  8. You listen to the recording and grade it; the child sees your grade.

The children's privacy

  • A child joins your halaqa only after the parent accepts the invitation and consents to the voice recordings.
  • Homework recordings are encrypted, playable only by the parent and the teacher, and deleted after 90 days.
  • The recordings cannot be downloaded from the app.
  • The parent can delete recordings or unlink from the halaqa at any time.
  • You see only the child's first name, homework and attendance.

The details are in the privacy policy and in the teacher terms you accept when you sign up.

Questions teachers ask

Is the halaqa really free?

Yes, for the volunteer teacher: one halaqa with up to 15 children, with every homework and grading feature, no payment card.

Do parents pay for the halaqa homework?

No. The halaqa homework is free for the child; the parent only needs a free Hudhudo account. The rest of Hudhudo is an optional family subscription, see pricing.

I teach in a mosque or a weekend school. Does this suit me?

Yes. Hudhudo helps with the homework at home between your sessions and does not replace your lesson. For a whole school, see the page for schools.

Who can listen to the children's recordings?

Only the parent and you. The recordings are encrypted, cannot be downloaded and are deleted after 90 days.

I have more than 15 children or more than one halaqa. What now?

Say so in your join request or write to us through the contact form, and we will look at what fits your halaqa.
